The Nemesis
Dash started out as a good guy. He was a top-flight student of mechanical and electrical engineering who went on to a decorated military career, first in the Psychological Operations unit, then designing top-secret electronics. One day he was working on a self-contained spectrum photometer for a nuclear-powered satellite when he was exposed to a high dose of radiation.
This radiation affected the centers of his brain which affect empathy and the ability to tell right from wrong. Suddenly the evil, greedy part of his mind took over and he began to use his talents and education for evil.
His amazing ability to create mechanical and electronic devices has fused with his complete lack of conscience and unrepentant greed and the knowledge of human behavior he learned in the military to create a villain of monumental proportions.
Dash thrives on temptation, on convincing people to take the easy way, of instant gratification. He uses his talents to get people to live in the here and now, rather than thinking of the future. To convince people that if they want now, they must have it now…and long-term consequences be darned.
Who doesn't want more? Dash Madison knows abourt people's desires for more, to keep up with the neighbors…and preys on those desires, tempting people into getting more than they really need.
Not only his own greed, but the greed of his victims…people's wish that there was some magical short-cut around building success through hard work and perseverence.
Close sibling to temptation. Our culture has cultivated the idea that if you want it now, you should have it now. Unfortunately, that's not usually the case! Rather than save for that TV, or computer, or appliance, our society has made it so easy to just borrow for it, whether it's a "need" or a "want"—and Dash makes the most of that.
